Police Arrest Suspected Murderer With Stolen Vehicle

The suspect was traced to Ankpa in Kogi State, where he was arrested, and the stolen Toyota Sienna vehicle was recovered in good condition. The vehicle has been secured as evidence in the ongoing investigation.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Abubakar Iliyasu in connection with the murder of 65-year-old Mrs. Jane Okoye. The incident occurred on April 2, 2025, in the Orile Iganmu area of Lagos State.

According to CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson, the suspect was apprehended in Kogi State after fleeing Lagos.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Iliyasu forcibly entered the victim’s premises, stole her Toyota Sienna vehicle, and left her unconscious.

The victim was taken to a medical facility, where she later died. The police command’s Homicide Section detectives were able to track down the suspect and recover the stolen vehicle through a combination of intelligence and technical resources.

The case highlights the effectiveness of the police command’s investigative efforts and their commitment to solving crimes in Lagos State. The suspect is currently in custody, and further investigations are ongoing to ensure justice is served.
