RATTAWU Lauds Ekiti Government Over Workers’ Welfare

The Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), Ekiti State, has lauded the Ekiti State Government over its efforts in promoting industrial harmony among the Ekiti workforce.

In a communique signed at the end of the meeting and endorsed by the Communique Drafting Committee and made available to ireport247news, the Union expressed concern over the growing decline in solidarity and comradeship among members, stating, “The Union decried the growing decline in solidarity and comradeship among members. It urged members to re-awaken the spirit of love to promote the Union’s unity and formidability in the zone.”

It commended the Ekiti State Government for its efforts in promoting industrial harmony among the Ekiti workforce, noting that the government has shown responsiveness to the welfare needs of Ekiti workers. According to It, “The Zonal leadership Commends Ekiti State Government for its various efforts in promoting industrial harmony among the Ekiti workforce through responsiveness to the welfare needs of Ekiti workers.”

The workers Union also appreciated Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his commitment to creating a conducive work environment for workers in Ekiti State Broadcasting Service. Specifically, It applauded the governor for connecting the service to the Independent Power Project (IPP) and for constructing the International Centre for Arts and Culture (ICAC), which will “further promote the development of arts and culture, create job opportunities and promote creativity and talent development.”

However, It requested the implementation of the long-approved Weigh-in Allowance for media and culture workers in the state, noting that their counterparts in federal media and culture establishments have been enjoying this allowance for close to 15 years. It stated, “The Union however requests for the implementation of the long approved Weigh-in Allowance for the State’s media and culture workers in line with what their counterparts within the federal Media and Culture establishments have been enjoying close to 15 years.”

The Southwest leadership endorsed several candidates to represent the zone in the forthcoming National Delegates Conference, including Comrade Dare Durosimi for National President, Comrade Adebayo Aribatise for National Vice President (Southwest Zone), and Comrade Kayode Sunday Olorunfemi for National Auditor.

It urged all members in the Zone to work towards the overall interest and success of the Zone in the next National Delegates Conference, stating, “The Union urged all members in the Zone to work for the overall interest and success of the Zone in the next NDC.”

Finally, It expressed appreciation to the RATTAWU Ekiti State Council for facilitating the successful hosting of the Zonal Meeting and promised its continued support to the Council leadership, stating, “The Union appreciates RATTAWU Ekiti State Council, for facilitating the successful hosting of the Zonal Meeting and promises its continued support to the Council leadership.”
