80-year-old Colombian national, Quesada Vanegas Ricardo Alfonso died in Lagos Hotel
The Lagos State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation into the sudden and unexplained death of an 80-year-old Colombian national, Quesada Vanegas Ricardo Alfonso.
The lifeless body of the deceased was discovered on May 1, 2025, at approximately 3:45 p.m. in his hotel room (No. C85) on the 8th floor of the Golden Tulip Hotel in Festac Town. A distress call alerted authorities to the situation, prompting a swift response from the police.
A team of police officers, including homicide detectives, was dispatched to the scene to conduct a meticulous examination and gather evidence.
According to preliminary investigations, the victim had been a long-term guest at the hotel, having stayed there for over four months prior to his death.
Notably, the police examination of the body revealed no visible signs of violence or foul play, suggesting that the death may not be suspicious. However, the police are leaving no stone unturned in their investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
The police are working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the death, including reviewing the victim’s activities and interactions during his stay at the hotel.
The investigation aims to provide clarity on the events leading up to the discovery of the body and to determine whether any foul play was involved.
The outcome of the investigation will help bring closure to the family and friends of the deceased, while also ensuring that justice is served.
A source told security analyst, Zagazola Makama that, “The corpse was evacuated and transported to Mainland General Hospital morgue in Yaba, where it has been preserved for autopsy.
“The coroner’s inquest and other necessary procedures have been initiated, with the investigation ongoing.
“Furthermore, some hotel management staff were briefly taken into custody for failing to maintain proper records of their guests. They have since been released as part of the investigation.
“The police assured that thorough investigation will continue to determine the cause of death.”
