Following an attack on Kwaple village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, which is believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram terrorists, the bodies of fourteen mourners have been recovered.

The attack on Chibok took place on Monday, April 28, just seven hours after a number of motorists and passengers were killed and others were injured along the Gamboru Ngala – Kala Balge road.

The incident occurred when the vehicles they were travelling in collided with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that had been planted by terrorists.

A church and more than ten private houses were also set ablaze by the attackers.  Mr. Modu Mustapha, the chairman of the council, has confirmed that the attack on the Chibok community took place at approximately six o’clock in the evening.

The terrorists attacked a group of mourners who were assembled for a final day prayer for a loved one who had passed away the previous week.

He added that a significant number of the victims who had been injured in the attack were sent to Mubi General Hospital, which is located in the neighbouring state of Adamawa, for medical care.

He additionally emphasized that the number of casualties may be greater as the community has begun a search and rescue operation prior to the mass burial of the deceased victims.

In response to the repeated atrocities carried out by Boko Haram, particularly in the Southern Borno Senatorial District, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume referred to the situation as pitiful and beyond the comprehension of human beings.

In addition, he mentioned that he had got a distress call informing him that more than ten members of vigilantes had been killed in a community that was located between the Hawul local government area of Borno State and the Garkida town in Adamawa State.
