Video: I am Safe, Not Kidnapped – King Sunny Ade

Nobody kidnapped me. This is me, King Sunny Ade.

King Sunny Ade, a legendary Juju musician, denied on Tuesday that he had been abducted or gone missing, putting an end to widespread fears for his safety.

Sunny Ade said, “Nobody kidnapped me. I pray, as I don’t want anybody to kidnap me. I believe that the whole world is in love with me.

“This is me, King Sunny Ade. I have to thank God and you, my fans, for the concern. I have been doing my shows. I was at a show last Saturday at Lekki, Lagos.

“I am on my way to have a show, and I am coming back again to play in Lagos, as well. So, I have nothing to say other than to thank God and to thank you”

This was revealed by the music icon in a live video shared by his wife, Mrs. Bose Olubo-Adegeye, after their daughter, Damilola Adeniyi-Adegeye, caused quite a stir online.

Damilola Adeniyi was worried about her father, expressed fears that he may be abducted and declared him missing.

Damilola claims that the 78-year-old music legend has been inaccessible for weeks due to his management allegedly isolating him from his family and transferring him from hotel to hotel.

Damilola said that the manager and his accomplices had abused Sunny Ade by giving him sleeping medications for his insomnia and then taking advantage of him financially.

Damilola said, “They are keeping him in different hotels, away from his family, pumping him with sleeping medications! My dad just lost his daughter and hasn’t even had time to mourn, yet they keep dragging him from show to show. I want my dad free from their bondage.

“I want the authorities to step in. I believe there is financial mismanagement happening, and my father’s welfare is at stake.”

Following Damilola claims, the relatives of King Sunny Ade, KSA, put an end to the speculation regarding his whereabouts on Tuesday, April 29.

The explanation was provided in a statement on Tuesday by Dayo Adegeye, one of his children and his manager.

The statement reads, “We want to assure the public that King Sunny Ade is safe and sound.

“There is no truth to the kidnapping rumor, and we are taking appropriate steps to address the situation and identify those responsible for spreading this false information.

“The King of World Beats, King Sunny Ade, is not abducted or kidnapped by anyone.

“The Adegeye family and King Sunny Ade’s team are working diligently to put an end to the rumour and protect his reputation.

“The public can rest assured that King Sunny Ade is in good health and spirits, and his focus remains on his music and legacy.”
