In a decisive move against drug trafficking in Bauchi State, the Police Command has arrested five suspected dealers and seized a significant cache of illicit drugs during a late-night operation on April 27, 2025.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, the operation was executed by the Command Monitoring Unit led by CSP Abdulrazak Pada following credible intelligence reports. The sting targeted Unguwar Tudun Wadan Dan’iya, a neighbourhood popularly known as Bayan Gari within the Bauchi metropolis, notorious for illegal drug activity.
The raid resulted in the arrest of five individuals: Adamu Muhammed (35), Mrs. Okwudili Chikezic (50), Sunday Anaco (25), Maryam Ahmed (20), all residents of Bayan Gari, and Tijjani Adamu (20) from Miri in Bauchi Local Government Area.
A thorough search of shops and suspected hideouts uncovered various banned substances, including 30 sachets of tramadol tablets, 22 bottles of ICE syrup, 10 sachets of diazepam, five ICE bunkers, and three penta injections—controlled substances often misused by youth in urban areas.
“During preliminary interrogation, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the trafficking and sale of these harmful substances and have pledged to assist investigators with further leads,” Wakil disclosed.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the swift action of the monitoring team and ordered a comprehensive investigation into the network behind the supply and distribution of the seized drugs. He assured that all suspects would be profiled and prosecuted accordingly.
The Command also urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to intensify efforts in discouraging drug use among youth, warning of its devastating health and social consequences.
This operation comes amid increased nationwide efforts to combat drug abuse, a crisis that continues to endanger public health and security. The police reiterated their commitment to partnering with communities to rid the state of dangerous substances and restore safety to local neighborhoods.
