The Maltina Skills Acquisition Centre, a cutting-edge facility in Kakuri, Kaduna, was commissioned by Nigerian Breweries Plc as part of the company’s endeavors to empower the local communities.

Hadiza Balarabe, deputy governor of Kaduna state, spoke during the commissioning ceremony, describing the landmark as the birth of fresh prospects, hopes, and routes to economic independence for innumerable youths across the state, rather than simply the inauguration of a physical structure.

The deputy governor said, “The impact of this center will extend far beyond its walls. As these young people gain skills and economic independence, they will contribute to the growth of our local economy, strengthen their communities, and inspire others to follow similar paths of self-development.

“What Nigerian Breweries has accomplished here resonates deeply with the vision and priorities of Senator Uba Sani’s administration.

“The Kaduna State government acknowledges the significant importance of acquiring modern skills, especially in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and other relevant industry skills in today’s world, in addition to formal education.

“By equipping our youth with these practical, market-ready skills, this centre will play a crucial role in transforming job seekers into job creators, fostering self-reliance, and significantly reducing unemployment in our state.”

Hans Essaadi, managing director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, called the project’s commissioning a milestone in the company’s sustainable development and economic empowerment.

The project show the company’s dedication to enhancing lives and creating opportunities, especially for Kakuri youth and women, Essaadi said.

He said the skill acquisition center was developed to meet the needs of a fast changing world that values skill development as a vital economic engine.

Essaadi said, “Unemployment and underemployment remain significant challenges, particularly among our youth and women.

“The skill acquisition centre addresses these critical challenges by empowering individuals with practical and marketable solutions. Enhancing self-reliance, fostering entrepreneurship and contributing to the broader economic growth of the region.”

Training in a variety of trades—including tailoring, shoemaking, catering, hairstyling, information and communication technology (ICT), and others—is a primary goal of the center. Benefitees, he said, should grasp the chance like a grail and use the training as a springboard to a life of self-sufficiency and improvement.
