The Ikoyi Club 1938 has kicked off its annual Easter Holiday Tennis Clinic, with over 100 kids participating in the event. The clinic, which began on Tuesday, aims to sharpen the skills of young tennis enthusiasts in different age categories. Boys and girls between the ages of five and 16 are expected to benefit from the clinic, which will run until Friday, followed by a tournament on Saturday, April 26.

Dr. Emeka Azinge, one of the parents, expressed his excitement about his six-year-old daughter’s participation in the clinic. “Tennis is more like a tradition because I started learning tennis at about the same age myself, my father brought me to the academy, just like this. So, it’s more of a will, encouraging them and enabling them to play tennis. So, based on the socialisation that I had, I got to give the same to my child,” Azinge said.

The Chairman of the tennis section, Diran Famakinwa, assured that all logistics were in place for the event. “We have all the arrangements ready for the clinic and tournament proper. The participants will have loads of fun in the days ahead,” Famakinwa said.

The clinic is designed to cater to different age groups, including boys and girls between the ages of five and seven, eight and 10, 11 and 13, as well as 14 and 16. The event is expected to provide a platform for young tennis enthusiasts to develop their skills and make new friends.

With the Ikoyi Club’s commitment to promoting tennis development, the clinic is set to be an exciting event for the participants. The tournament on Saturday will provide an opportunity for the kids to showcase their skills and compete with their peers. Overall, the Ikoyi Club Easter Tennis Clinic promises to be an enjoyable and enriching experience for the young participants.
