Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah has confirmed his intention to leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season. The 29-year-old has been a key player for Die Werkself since joining from Hamburg for a reported fee of €9.5 million in 2015. In an interview with German magazine Kicker, Tah revealed that he will be leaving Leverkusen in the summer, saying, “I decided some time ago not to stay here, and the club knows it now. As always, I’ve communicated it openly, and everything is now clear.”

Tah’s decision to leave Leverkusen has sparked interest from several top clubs. Last summer, Barcelona and Bayern Munich were interested in signing him, with the Catalan giants reportedly reaching a personal agreement with the defender. Other clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, and Inter and AC Milan in Italy, are also said to be interested in signing the 35-capped Germany international.

This season, Tah has featured in 45 matches across all competitions for Leverkusen, scoring three goals and providing an assist. His departure will be a significant loss for the team, and it remains to be seen which club will secure his services in the summer transfer window. Tah’s impressive performances have made him a sought-after talent, and he is expected to attract strong interest from several top clubs.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Tah will be able to negotiate with potential suitors without Leverkusen receiving a transfer fee. This could give him significant leverage in choosing his next destination. Tah’s future is currently uncertain, but it is clear that he will be leaving Leverkusen after nearly a decade of service. The club will need to find a suitable replacement to fill the gap left by his departure.
