Nigeria’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles, has arrived in Cairo, Egypt, to prepare for the 17th Africa U20 Cup of Nations(AFCON) finals. The team, led by Head Coach Aliyu Zubairu, touched down at the Cairo International Airport on Sunday evening with a delegation of 24 players and nine officials. The Flying Eagles are lodged at Jewel Sports City and Aqua Resort and will have their first training session on Monday evening.

As part of their build-up to the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place from April 27 to May 18, the Flying Eagles will face host nation Egypt’s Young Pharaohs in a friendly match on Tuesday evening at the Cairo International Stadium. The match is slated for 5 pm local time (4 pm Nigeria time).

Nigeria’s campaign in the tournament will begin on May 1, when they take on Tunisia at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo. The Africa U20 Cup of Nations serves as a qualifying tournament for the FIFA U20 World Cup finals, scheduled for September 27 to October 19 in Chile. The top four semi-finalists at the tournament in Egypt will represent Africa at the FIFA U20 World Cup finals.
