Yusuf’s early pace has kept him ahead for most of the season. He scored five goals in Nasarawa United’s opening four games, including a hat-trick against El-Kanemi Warriors. He repeated the feat in their 3-0 win over Abia Warriors in October. Despite a six-game goal drought, Yusuf scored his 15th goal against Plateau United last Sunday.

Other contenders include Shola Adelani and Rabiu Ali, both with 11 goals. Adelani, a 44-year-old midfielder, has surpassed his last season’s tally of 10 goals. He stormed to a prolific start, netting a brace on the opening day, but endured droughts before racking up 11 goals. Ali, also 44, has had a similar season, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists for Kano Pillars.

Sunday Megwo and Ijoma Desouza of Abia Warriors are also in contention with 10 goals each. Megwo has been instrumental since the start of the season, adding four assists, while Desouza joined the party in November and has contributed six goals and two assists since then. Ayomide Cole of Ikorodu City has also scored 10 goals, despite not being a regular starter.
