Rasmus Hojlund of Manchester United endured another disappointing outing as the Red Devils suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolves at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Denmark international missed two clear opportunities in front of goal, and his side paid the price for his profligacy.

Hojlund’s struggles continued to mount, and he was predictably taken off for Chido Obi in the 70th minute. The £72 million striker stared at the floor as he trotted off the pitch, knowing he had failed to live up to his price tag and status as United’s No. 9 yet again.

United were understandably playing at a lower gear after Thursday’s Europa League comeback against Lyon, but still managed to create chances to win. However, Hojlund couldn’t capitalize on them. Wolves took advantage of United’s lack of sharpness and Pablo Sarabia’s stunning free-kick sealed the win for the visitors.

Christian Eriksen praised Manchester United youngsters Tyler Fredricson and Harry Amass for their performances against Wolves. Fredricson made his first-team debut, while Amass earned his second start for the club. “I’m happy for both of them,” Eriksen told MUTV. “Obviously Harry has played a few games, but Tyler was making his debut today. He’s trained with us a few times and performed today. He’s a bright kid. They’re both really working hard and earning their chance in the team.”

Eriksen added, “It is football in a nutshell, sometimes you have a good game but don’t score many goals. Obviously you always have a chance to take the lead and the win, and unfortunately they did that today. I think it was pretty easy to get over it [the Lyon win]. We change a lot of the team from Thursday. We had our chances today, no matter whether we played Thursday or not, and had enough energy to win. In the end, it was just small details and we weren’t good enough in the last end.” United’s defeat means they have suffered their 15th Premier League defeat of the season and their eighth at Old Trafford.
