No politician can win the Nigerian presidency without the support of North, according to Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu.
Baba-Ahmed also stated that the North will soon decide its political orientation before the 2027 general elections. This comment was delivered by Baba-Ahmed in a Sunday video interview that quickly gained traction online.
Professor Usman Yusuf, who had previously served as the National Health Insurance Scheme’s executive secretary, was there with him during the interview.
The North region is more politically conscious and will not back a candidate who doesn’t comprehend or handle its problems, according to the former presidential advisor, who is recognized for his outspoken position on northern issues.
The insurgency led by Boko Haram and other issues that have devastated the North regardless of religion or ethnicity were brought to the attention of Baba-Ahmed, who stressed the catastrophic impact of these factors.
As the country is getting ready for another election cycle, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the current situation of the nation and advised people living in the north to reject politicians who are divisive and dishonest.
