The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Uzo-Uwani local government area of Enugu State announced the suspension of Senator Chuka Utazi on Friday due to alleged anti-party activities.
Utazi, who served as a senator for two terms from 2015 to 2023 representing the Enugu North Senatorial District under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), switched allegiance to the APC in 2024.
In a notification letter addressed to the State Chairman of APC, Barr Ugochukwu Agballah, and signed by Chief Chris Ajodo, Chairman of APC Uzo-Uwani LGA, along with Secretary Hon. Pius Diara and Hon. Albert Aniebonam, APC Chairman of Nkpologu Ward, the party indicated that Utazi’s suspension was a result of a complaint from his Nkpologu ward, which alleged anti-party activities.
The Ward accused Senator Utazi of participating in meetings of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Enugu North Zonal Chapter and endorsing Barr. Peter Mba, the Governor of Enugu State, for a second term in the upcoming 2027 election.
Additionally, the senator was charged with giving interviews and engaging in public blackmail and de-marketing of the APC Enugu State chapter, among other violations.
“These allegations were backed up by online video evidences as the case may be,” stated the party officials in the notification letter, which was also sent to the state party leader, Chief Uche Nnaji (Nwakaibie), Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.

The party officials further elaborated, “On receipt of the said complaint, the local government on 8/4/2025 set up a three-man disciplinary committee which notified the Senator of the petition and duly invited him to appear before the disciplinary body.
“The invitation was, however, ignored by the Respondent. Notwithstanding this, the committee conducted a thorough investigation of the allegations and concluded with a verdict of ‘guilt’.
“The committee found the conduct of Senator Utazi highly disappointing, repugnant, and unbecoming of a bona fide member of APC, and hence, recommended his indefinite suspension from the party.
“Upon the receipt of the report from the Disciplinary Committee on 12/4/2025 and after careful examination of the findings, including the enclosed video evidence, the Local Government Executive unanimously approved the Disciplinary Committee’s recommendation and subsequently endorsed the indefinite suspension of former Senator Chuka Utazi from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for anti-party activity in accordance with the Constitution of our great party.”
