The initiative highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening social welfare systems
Two days capacity building workshop has been initiated by federal government in Kano State, with the goal of providing social workers with the knowledge and skills they need to tackle a range of humanitarian and social issues.
Social workers in Kano State will be better equipped to address poverty, gender-based violence, child protection, and humanitarian crises at a workshop put on by the federal ministries of women’s affairs, children, and disabled persons and poverty reduction.
This initiative highlights the government’s commitment to strengthening social welfare systems, empowering communities, and improving the quality of life for vulnerable Nigerians, according to Dr. Yakubu Adam Kofarmata, the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. Kofarmata made this statement while declaring the event open.
“This gathering reflects our dedication to building resilient communities. Without a skilled and motivated workforce, even the best policies cannot achieve their desired impact. That’s why continuous learning, upskilling, and professional development remain our top priorities”
Hajiya Armina, the Kano State commissioner for Women Affairs, Children, and Disabled Persons, who was also present at the occasion and was represented by the director of administration, Mr. Mohammed Sambo Iliyasu, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to the advancement of the social sector.
She emphasized the importance of participants making the most of the training, developing their talents, and finding innovative ways to enhance people’s lives.
The event included a number of technical workshops that focused on the development of the social work profession in Nigeria, the Social Work Regulatory Act, professional ethics and values, and psychological support strategies, particularly in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
It is anticipated that the training will improve the efficiency of social workers throughout the state of Kano and encourage participants to develop more robust answers to the social difficulties that vulnerable populations are now facing.
