The possibility of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) group defecting from the APC has been escalating amid these consecutive engagements. Among the four parties that united in 2013 to establish the APC, Buhari is a prominent founding member of the CPC.

Meanwhile, the Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar led a group of prominent politicians on a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna earlier on Friday.

A number of prominent figures, including Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, Senator Gabriel Suswam, who had previously served as governor of Benue State, former Adamawa State governor Jibrilla Bindow, and former Sokoto State governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, accompanied the opposition leader on the visit.

Speaking with journalists, Atiku made it clear that the visit was purely for the purpose of celebrating Sallah and not for any negotiations regarding the planned alliance of political groups that is intended to establish a more powerful opposition.

On Monday April 7, a delegation of APC governors paid a visit to the residence of former president Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna. The visit was organized by the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF).

After a private meeting with Buhari, the forum’s chairman, Hope Uzodinma, told reporters that the group’s visit demonstrated the APC’s strength and togetherness.

He stated that following the festivals of Ramadan, Lent, and Eid-el-Fitr, they felt it was imperative to pay honor to the former president who had represented the APC for eight years.
