They went on a joint venture, which will not work because from what we have seen, there are just some particles that cannot come together.

Abdullahi Ganduje, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has characterized the talk of an opposition alliance in the run-up to the 2027 general election as a “joint venture” that will inevitably fail.

During a briefing on Friday, Ganduje made the remarks following a Sallah visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari’s house in Kaduna State with members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC).

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and a group of prominent politicians had earlier visited former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna on Friday before Ganduje and others got to Buhari residence.

We Visited Buhari not for Coalition Talks – Atiku

A number of prominent figures, including Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, Senator Gabriel Suswam, who had previously served as governor of Benue State, former Adamawa State governor Jibrilla Bindow, and former Sokoto State governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, accompanied the opposition leader on the visit.

Speaking with journalists, Atiku made it clear that the visit was purely for the purpose of celebrating Sallah and not for any negotiations regarding the planned alliance of political groups that is intended to establish a more powerful opposition.

Atiku said, “We came here on a courtesy and Sallah greetings visit to President Muhammadu Buhari.

“There is a plan for the major political parties to come together and form a strong opposition, but it is not part of this visit.”

Reacting, Ganduje said, “We are not worried at all. This is just history trying to repeat itself. They went on a joint venture, which will not work because from what we have seen, there are just some particles that cannot come together.

“It is a game, and we will not reveal our technicalities on how to handle it, but we assure you, we are equal to the task.

“We are eyeing other states that will come into our fold. Either the governors themselves will come, or we go for election and defeat them to increase our tally. We are comfortable, but we are not resting. We shall continue.”
