The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), in partnership with Olympic Solidarity and the Sport For All Commission, will host the 2025 Olympic Day celebration on Saturday, June 28.

The nationwide event aims to promote the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect while encouraging Nigerians to embrace physical activity for better health.

Olympic Day 2025 will serve as a platform to highlight the benefits of staying active, aligning with the World Health Organization’s recommendation of at least 30 minutes of daily exercise. From jogging to walking, these activities are touted for burning calories, toning muscles, shaping the body, and reducing stress.

The event is designed to inspire people of all ages to integrate Olympic values into their daily lives while fostering health and fitness.

Dr. Abdul Ibrahim, Chairman of the NOC Sport-For-All Commission, emphasized the inclusive and social nature of the campaign. “Exercising is more fun when it’s social, so invite someone to join you in getting active,” he said, urging Nigerians to make fitness a shared experience. The initiative also seeks to build connections across generations, encouraging meaningful interactions between young and old.

With preparations underway, the NOC has called on State Sports Councils and Commissions to mobilize for the event. Following the success of the 2024 Olympic Day, which saw widespread participation, organizers are optimistic about even greater engagement this year due to the program’s proven benefits for public health and community bonding.

The NOC is also appealing to corporate and philanthropic individuals for financial contributions or product donations, highlighting the visibility and goodwill such support would generate for their brands.
