We were stranded in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by forest

On Tuesday, a commuter who was traveling to Abuja described a terrifying travel experience in which he and other passengers on a train were forced to walk through strange terrain for several hours when their train broke down.

They were cornered deep within a forest in Kogi State. Due to the fact that he was unable to book a flight to Abuja, Marxist activist Kola Edokpayi decided to travel by rail from Agbor to Itakpe in Kogi State as part of his journey to the capital. This information was provided in a video that was posted by the traveller.

In a secluded area of Kogi known as a deep forest, a location devoid of mobile network coverage, the train allegedly developed technical difficulties, turning the trip on its head.

Armed Fulani herders and their animals are said to frequent the area. According to him, the travelers set off on a journey with foot in an effort to get to the closest town or train station as soon as possible.

He took an unexpected turn when he lauded the Fulani herders they met in the jungle, saying they were extremely kind to the stranded passengers and the most pleasant people he had ever experienced.

He said, “We became apprehensive, we were stranded in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by forest and with no idea how long the repair would take.

“So, we decided to start trekking. We’ve been trekking for more than three hours, and we’re still on the move

“The Fulani herders we met were very helpful. Contrary to the fear many of us had, they guided us and showed kindness throughout the walk.

“Airlines cancel flights without notice, roads are unsafe due to kidnappers and poor conditions, and now trains are breaking down in forests. May God continue to help us in this country,” he added.
