A local beverage – Zobo processing factory in the Gezawa local government area of Kano State has found two women who died in a puddle when they were attempting to clean up their bodies after the factory had closed for the day.
It was said in a statement by Saminu Yusif, the spokesperson for the Kano State Fire Service, that the incident took place on Monday, but the bodies were discovered on Tuesday after some preliminary investigation.
He said, “On Tuesday, 8th April 2025, at about 11:15 am, the control room of the agency received an emergency call from the commander, vigilante group of Gezawa, who informed us that two women had fallen into a puddle.
“According to their relatives, they are workers in a zobo processing company and they entered the water with the intention of washing their bodies after closing from duty, which resulted in the loss of their lives.”
Additionally, he mentioned that the rescue operations started on Monday evening and continued into Tuesday, ultimately resulting in the retrieval of the bodies of the victims.
The statement mentioned that the women, who were not identified, were discovered unconscious and were then handed over to a Musa Garba from the Gezawa Police Division before they passed away.
