The Nigerian Army has begun “Operation Munzo,” a special clearance operation that is aimed at terrorist camps in Zamfara State.

This operation is being carried out under the auspices of Headquarters Operation Forest Yakin (HQOPFY). In order to reach the notorious Mati terrorist camps, the operation began at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bagega, which is located in the Anka Local Government Area. The troops then advanced through the villages of Tibuki and Sabuwar Tunga.

Intelligence sources informed security analyst Zagazola Makama that the terrorists engaged the advancing troops with light and support weaponry, including rocket-propelled grenades, and that they experienced significant resistance as a result of their actions.

The army, on the other hand, responded with superior weaponry, which resulted in the elimination of a significant number of the insurgents.

There is evidence to suggest that the terror leader known as Mati, who is believed to have been the mastermind behind a number of attacks in the region, was killed along with several of his fighters during the intense exchange of fire.

The lower rib of a soldier who was connected to the Special Boat Service (SBS) was shot, and the soldier has since been stabilized and transported for treatment while awaiting further medical attention.

Among the items that were seized from the scene are five AK-47 weapons, twelve magazines that included 487 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one PKT rifle that had two belts and 90 rounds of NATO ammunition in 7.62mm.

Additional items that were found were three Baofeng radios that were equipped with chargers, as well as military and police outfits and other types of combat gear.

Three motorcycles that belonged to the terrorists were burned on the spot. Rustled cattle found at the camp were also killed.

While the operation was being carried out, every single terrorist life-support building that was located in the Mati camp was entirely demolished and burned down.

One of the vehicles, however, suffered a fractured lower arm, while two of the tires on a combat support vehicle were damaged.

A separate movement occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m., when logistical vehicles that were moving from Forward Operating Base Bagega to Forward Operating Base Dan Gulbi came under ambush near a bridge. The troops were able to repel the assault.

One of the soldiers who was injured is said to be in stable condition, despite the fact that the number of casualties on the side of the attackers has not yet been confirmed.
