In a stunning upset, Remo Stars suffered a 1-0 defeat to Rivers United, narrowing their lead at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table to just five points. Despite the setback, head coach Daniel Ogunmodede remains confident in his team’s ability to secure their first-ever NPFL title.
The Sky Blue Stars led by Daniel Ogunmodede, now face a challenging road ahead with only seven games remaining in the season. Their next test comes quickly as they travel to face Lobi Stars in a rescheduled matchday 30 encounter this Wednesday.
Ogunmodede, however, is undeterred by the recent loss. “No complications,” he asserted after the match against Rivers United. “We also go back to our home and win; we will be back to eight points.” With three crucial home games left on their schedule, the Ikenne club is focused on collecting maximum points to maintain their position at the top.
“It’s a fierce competition, and we love it,” Ogunmodede said, embracing the intensity of the title race. “We are almost there. In the next six weeks, we should be talking about this.”
