Gunmen Kill Two Foreigners, One Police Officer

The manager, Mr. Quan, his colleague Mr. Cai, and Inspector Audu Saidu, one of the escort officers, were killed.

The attack that took place on Friday evening, April 5, in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Abia, resulted in the deaths of two Foreigners, Chinese nationals and a police officer. The gunmen ambushed their convoy and then murdered them.

The victims were attacked when they were on their way to a company site in Agukwu-Amaya, which is located in the Ndundu village, according to Maureen Chinaka, the spokesperson for the command, who confirmed the incident.

She said, “The manager, Mr. Quan, his colleague Mr. Cai, and Inspector Audu Saidu, one of the escort officers, were killed. The assailants also carted away the Inspector Saidu’s rifle.

“Upon receiving the information, operatives from the Abia State Command, in a joint operation with the military and other sister agencies, launched a search mission.

“As a result, three Chinese expatriates were rescued unhurt, while one sustained injuries. Inspector Uba Ahmed, who was also rescued, suffered gunshot injury on his leg.

“Through collaborative action involving police, the military, and local community members, Inspector Ijeagwa Friday was also rescued unhurt.”

The police officer and the injured expatriate were both sent to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), where they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.

There was a visit to the crime scene on Saturday by members of the tactical team, who were led by the deputy commissioner of police (operations). A thorough investigation is currently being conducted, and there are attempts being made to locate the perpetrators of the attack and bring them to justice.

Chinaka stated that Danladi Isa, the commissioner of police for the state, has communicated to the general public that the individuals responsible for the crime will be held accountable.

“The commissioner urged residents to remain security conscious, go about their lawful activities without fear, and support the police by reporting any suspicious persons, vehicles, or activities to the nearest Police Station or call the following Command’s emergency lines: 08035415405, 08079210004, 08079210005, 08079210006.”
