Chaos erupted at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Ibadan during a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 32 clash between Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) and Ikorodu City, which ended in a goalless draw. Frustrated home fans hurled objects onto the pitch after the final whistle, venting their anger over the result and the performance of referee Funmilayo Alaba.
Ikorodu City dominated proceedings from the outset, while 3SC struggled to match their pace. The visitors’ resolute defending, including several goal-line clearances, only heightened the home supporters’ exasperation. The tension boiled over at full-time, with the partisan crowd making their displeasure clear.

In his post-match comments, Ikorodu City coach Nurudeen Aweroro expressed mixed feelings about the result. “It was our plan to get the maximum three points, but we couldn’t finish up well,” he said. “I salute the courage and resilience of the boys to get the point away from home.” Aweroro believes the draw will boost his team’s confidence for the remaining NPFL fixtures.
For 3SC, currently fourth in the standings with 48 points and six games to play, the stalemate feels like a missed opportunity. Only the top three teams will secure a spot in next season’s CAF Interclub competition, making every point crucial.
Adding to the home side’s woes, reports emerged of attacks on some Ikorodu City fans and officials after the match. Nearly two hours after the final whistle, a police vehicle was required to escort the visiting team’s bus from the venue, highlighting the severity of the post-match unrest.
