Those that are aggrieved and threatening to go to court should remember the case of Eleruwa who was removed and still returned by the people

The governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, issued a challenge to everyone who had any effect on his decision regarding the new Alaafin of Oyo to publicly state their opinion.

The challenge was issued by Makinde during the formal coronation of Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, the new Alaafin of Oyo, which took place in Oyo town, Oyo State on Saturday

Makinde stated, “Those they came to me for were not chosen by Ifa,” while at the same time that he insisted that he did not have any influence over the selection of the new monarch.

He emphasized the significance of the Alaafin stool to the Yoruba land’s tradition and culture. He also emphasized that the stool was not for sale.

He urged the Oyomesi and the people of Oyo to show their support for Oba Owoade with their votes.

He said, “Those that are aggrieved and threatening to go to court should remember the case of Eleruwa who was removed and still returned by the people.

“They should not waste the time of the people; or the time of the state. They should cooperate with the new Alaafin who God has chosen. Ifa has chosen him, Oyo people have chosen him, Oyo State government chose him and Seyi Makinde has chosen him.”

In his speech, Oba Owoade thanked Governor Makinde, the state government, the people of Oyo, and all of Yorubaland for their support as he sought to ascend to the throne.

Oba Owoade said, “This support network provides comfort, encouragement, and reassurance, enabling individuals to face challenges head-on, confident in the knowledge that they are not alone.”
