Girlfriend Hired cultist to attack and rob her boyfriend after discovering his Whatsapp conversations with other ladies
The 35-year-old man, Emeka Nwogu, had a terrible Valentine’s Day. His 25-year-old girlfriend, in collusion with her younger brother and a gang of cultists, attacked him, robbed him of N15.5 million, and took three of his phones, among other valuables.
The incident happened at Ago Palace Way in Lagos, after the couple had spent Valentine’s Day at one of the hotels at Ago Palace. The following day, they decided to eat out, unaware that the girl had ulterior motives with her younger brother and his cultists.
According to police sources, his girlfriend demanded they return to the hotel so she could relieve herself while they were having fun at one of the new eateries.
The unwary lover did as she wanted, but he became worried as they neared the bus stop leading to their hotel; the girl reassured him not to be concerned.
The moment they stepped off the bus at a different stop, a group of masked youths swarmed them, seized them, and hauled them off to a remote area within one of the estates, where they allegedly subjected the man to brutal beatings and torture using swords and firearms.
After they took over $9,700 and made him reveal the passwords to his Bitcoin, Binance, and Trust accounts, they took off with his phones.
The victim and his girlfriend reportedly went to the Ago Palace police station immediately following the incident to file a report. Upon arrival at the scene of the crime, the story took a turn when the police overheard a security officer whispering to them that one of the attackers was constantly seen with the man’s girlfriend.
Following her arrest and detention by the police, the girlfriend admitted that her younger brother and his companions were the assailants, based on this shocking discovery.
After discovering her boyfriend’s Whatsapp conversations with other ladies, she reportedly told detectives she was furious and hired her younger brother and his friends to plan the attack.
The case has now been moved to the Commissioner of Police Special Squad 1, according to Crime Guard. The police were able to trace her residence, but her younger brother managed to flee.
Reportedly, upon learning of the news, her father vowed to find his son and get back the stolen belongings. But he only gave back N3 million, which his son said was part of the N5 million that had been taken as his sister’s portion.
Rumor has it that four further gang members were apprehended by investigators when their investigations were ramped up. The suspects admitted to being members of the Aiye confraternity at Ago Palace Way. Babatunde Ibrhaim, 20, Odora Michael, 24, and 22-year-old Ogbuka Tochukwu were among those detained. John Wisdom was 25 years old.
Among the items retrieved from their possession are a locally manufactured gun, four cartridges, an axe that belonged to the Aiye fraternity, and 7.5 million Nigerian naira in cash.
After learning that his girlfriend of four years was the mastermind behind the attack, the victim expressed to the reporters that he was extremely frightened by the shocking it.
He said, “I spent Valentine’s night with her in a hotel and we enjoyed ourselves. The following day while we were in a lounge enjoying ourselves, she went out severally after her phone rang. I did not know she was planning to attack me with her brother and cultists and steal my hard-earned money and property. I commend the CP squad for doing a good job.”
