Coronation: Owoade crowned Alaafin of Oyo

The 46th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has been crowned the successful candidate. Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the 45th Alaafin of Oyo, passed away on April 22, 2022, at the age of 83. Owoade replaces him as Alaafin of Oyo.

Olivet Baptist High School in Oyo was the location of the coronation, which was presided over by Governor Seyi Makinde and attended by a large number of dignitaries, including prominent Nigerian representatives.

Less than three years had passed since the previous monarch, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, had joined his ancestors when the coronation eventually took place.

At the occasion, Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, is representing President Bola Tinubu.

The event featured several dignitaries, including the Statistician General of the Federation and Chief Executive Officer of the National Bureau of Statistics, Prince Adeyemi Adeniran; the wife of the Oyo Governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde; Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal; Deputy Governor of Osun, Prince Kola Adewusi; the Chief of Staff to the Ondo Governor, Prince Olusegun Omojuwa, who represented the Governor; Oyo Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin; and Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, among other prominent government officials.
