Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi has categorically denied reports linking him with a move to Championship side Leeds United. The Porto left-back, who has been touted as a potential replacement for Junior Firpo at Elland Road, firmly dismissed the speculation.

“I am not in contact with Leeds United or any team right now. I am not negotiating with Leeds United, and I have not been offered a four-year contract. They lied about it,” Sanusi stated.

Reports had suggested that Leeds were preparing a €2m summer bid for the Nigeria international and had already opened talks with Porto. The English club reportedly views Sanusi as a potential low-cost replacement for Firpo, whose contract expires this summer.

Leeds, who currently sit second in the Championship table, are hoping to secure promotion to the Premier League this season. The club is planning its summer transfer business accordingly, regardless of which division they will compete in next term.

Sanusi has struggled for game time at Porto this season as he works his way back from a long spell out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. He has made just three league appearances for the Portuguese giants.

The 26-year-old Nigeria international, who has earned 22 caps for the Super Eagles, has a contract with Porto until 2027. However, the Portuguese club has yet to decide if they are willing to sell the defender this summer.

Sanusi’s denial of the Leeds United links will come as a relief to Porto fans, who value the defender’s contributions to the team. As the summer transfer window approaches, Sanusi’s future remains uncertain, but one thing is clear – he will not be joining Leeds United anytime soon.

The Nigerian defender’s focus remains on regaining his fitness and reclaiming his spot in Porto’s starting lineup. With his contract running until 2027, Sanusi has ample time to prove himself at the Portuguese club.

As the transfer rumors continue to swirl, Sanusi’s denial of the Leeds United links serves as a reminder that speculation should be taken with a grain of salt. The defender’s future will be decided by his performances on the pitch, not by unfounded rumors and speculation.
