Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar has expressed his delight at playing for Valencia at the iconic Mestalla stadium. The Nigerian striker, who joined Valencia on loan from Real Sociedad in January, took to social media to share his excitement, saying, “Living a dream, playing in Mestalla is a dream.”
Umar’s move to Valencia has been a successful one, with the 28-year-old scoring four goals in nine La Liga games, including a spectacular flick against Osasuna that was voted as the March goal of the month in La Liga. His performances have also earned him a nomination for player of the month.
Valencia’s recent form has also been impressive, with the team losing only three of their last 14 games since Umar’s debut. The team now sits 15th on 31 points, four points clear of the relegation zone.
Umar’s success at Valencia has been attributed to his hard work and dedication, as well as the appointment of Carlos Corberan as head coach. Corberan took over from Ruben Baraja, and his tactical changes have helped to improve the team’s performance.
While Umar is currently on loan at Valencia, his recent post suggests that he may be open to signing permanently with the club when the summer transfer window opens. However, his impressive form may also have attracted interest from other European teams.
In the meantime, Umar and Valencia will hope to continue their fight for survival when they face Real Madrid on Saturday, April 5. With safety looking feasible, Corberan’s team will be desperate to avoid any slip-up that could take them back into the relegation zone.
