The Bauchi State Ministry of Education has officially announced the resumption date for schools. This comes after a five-week break for Ramadan. In a statement issued on Thursday, the ministry informed parents and guardians. Both day and boarding schools will resume on Sunday, April 6. This is for the continuation of the second term.

The Ramadan break started on March 1, 2025. It was initially intended to allow students and teachers to observe the holy month of Ramadan. However, the extended closure sparked criticism from religious groups. Civil society organizations also raised concerns over its impact on the education system.

The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawal Mohammed Rimin Zayam, emphasized that education remains a top priority for the Bauchi State Government. In a statement, Dr. Zayam reminded parents and guardians of the resumption date, stressing the importance of punctuality.

The ministry also announced plans to commence JAMB CBT training for sponsored JAMB students. This initiative aims to empower students to excel in examinations sponsored by the Bauchi State Government.

The ministry warned that late resumption will not be tolerated, advising parents and guardians to ensure their wards resume on the stipulated date. This, according to the ministry, is essential to avoid disruptions to their academic progress.

The initial closure of schools for the Ramadan break sparked concerns over its impact on the education system. Critics argued that the extended break would lead to a loss of learning time, potentially affecting students’ academic performance.

The reopening of schools in Bauchi State marks a significant milestone in the state’s education sector. As students and teachers return to their academic routines, it is essential to recognize the importance of punctuality and dedication to academic excellence.
