French officials have determined that the deaths of a British couple in south-west France were murder followed by suicide.

The bodies of Andrew and Dawn Searle, a British couple who previously resided in East Lothian, Scotland. They were tragically discovered on February 6 at their home in Les Pequies, a serene village nestled in the Aveyron region located, approximately an hour north of Toulouse, France.

Mrs Dawn Searle, aged 56, was found in the garden of their property with severe and distressing injuries to her head. Suggesting a violent struggle had occurred.

Meanwhile, her husband, Mr. Andrew Searle, aged 62, was discovered inside the house, unresponsive.

The prosecutor overseeing the investigation confirmed, that there is currently no evidence suggesting the involvement of any third party in their deaths.

Local law enforcement enlisted expert assistance from the authorities in Toulouse. Deploying a helicopter and a drone to conduct comprehensive aerial surveys of the property to ensure no detail was overlooked.

Post-mortem examinations revealed that Mr Searle had died from hanging. While Mrs Searle sustained “multiple blows to the head from a blunt and sharp-edged object.”

These findings indicated a profoundly troubling scenario. Prompting investigators to delve further into the events leading up to their untimely deaths.

In the wake of this tragedy, Dawn Searle’s son. Callum Kerr—an actor known for portraying Ste Hay, in the popular television series Holly oaks. released a heartfelt statement on social media to honour parents.

He expressed the profound grief, shared by him and his sister, Amanda Kerr, stating, “At this time, Callum Kerr and Amanda Kerr are grieving the loss of their mother, Dawn Searle (née Smith, Kerr), while Tom Searle and Ella Searle are mourning the loss of their father, Andrew Searle.”

In hisignant message, he emphasises the family’s need for privacy as they navigate this inchallengingeriod.
