In a determined bid to bring the perpetrators of the heinous murder of 28-year-old Adedamola Ogunbode, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), to justice, the Lagos State Police Command has intensified its search for Teniola Ajisomo, the remaining suspect linked to the crime. The police command has confirmed that Teniola is still at large and efforts are being made to apprehend him.
LASU graduate Ogunbode, a Political Science Education graduate, was reported missing on January 16. His body was later exhumed from a shallow grave behind the LASU fence in its Ojo campus on March 12. Investigations by the police revealed that the victim’s account was used to transfer funds to several individuals, including Sunday Whepetoji, a pastor, and Sheriff Adebayo, a church member. The police also discovered that the victim’s phone was used to send messages to his family, pretending that he was still alive.
The police have arrested several suspects in connection with the murder, including Omolara Ajisomo, the mother of Teniola and Olaoluwa Ajisomo. Olaoluwa was arrested in the Alakuko area of the state and led the police to the shallow grave where Ogunbode’s body was buried. Sunday Whepetoji and Sheriff Adebayo are currently being held at the Ikoyi correctional centre. The police have also recovered some of the victim’s belongings, including his phone and laptop.
The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Teniola is still at large and efforts are being made to apprehend him. Hundeyin also stated that Omolara Ajisomo, the mother of the suspects, has been released. According to Hundeyin, the church where the murder allegedly took place has been sealed to prevent it from being burned down.
