The Imo State Football Association (Imo FA) has announced the commencement of preparations for the upcoming 2025 State League, aiming to foster grassroots football development and identify teams to represent the state in the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) Nationwide League (NLO).

In a statement released by the Imo FA Office in Owerri and signed by Secretary Mr. Godfrey Ndudi, the association has opened registration for both male and female football teams across the state. Male teams are required to pay a registration fee of ₦70,000, which includes a ₦30,000 administration fee, while female teams will pay ₦50,000 plus a ₦30,000 administration fee. Additionally, all participating teams must pay a yearly affiliation fee of ₦20,000 if they have not already done so for the year.

The winners of the Imo State FA League will earn the opportunity to represent the state in the NFF-organized Nationwide League competition. Imo FA Chairman, Barr Ifeanyi Dike, expressed confidence in the association’s ability to deliver a well-organized event, emphasizing the league’s role as a platform for talent discovery and exposure to competitive football.

“The Imo State FA League is not just about competition; it’s an avenue for unearthing talents and providing players with greater challenges,” Dike said. “The benefits for teams within and beyond the state are immense, and we are committed to ensuring an excellent experience for all participants.”

Football stakeholders in Imo State have welcomed the announcement, viewing it as a significant step toward strengthening the sport at the grassroots level and elevating the state’s presence in national football competitions.
