Makinde, Ladoja Team Up to Inspect Ibadan Circular Road Project

In a significant move to fast-track the completion of the Ibadan Circular Road Project, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday, conducted a joint inspection of the project with former Governor Rashidi Ladoja. The project, named after Ladoja, aims to reduce traffic congestion in Ibadan and boost industrialization in the state.

The Ibadan Circular Road Project is a 110-kilometer ring road designed to connect various parts of Ibadan, the state capital, and surrounding towns. The project, conceived by Ladoja during his tenure as governor between 2003 and 2007, is being executed by the Makinde administration. The project’s completion is expected to ease traffic congestion, enhance economic growth, and improve the standard of living in the state.


During the inspection tour, Makinde and Ladoja were accompanied by the Senior Executive Assistant (General Administration) to the governor, Chief Bayo Lawal, and other dignitaries. The duo inspected the 32.2-kilometer East Wing of the project, which is nearing completion. The East Wing connects the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to Badeku Village on the Ibadan-Ile Ife Road.


Governor Makinde reiterated his administration’s commitment to completing the project on schedule. He assured that the project would be completed in phases, with the first phase comprising the 32.2-kilometer East Wing and 36.7-kilometer North-East Wing, from Badeku Village to Akinyele Local Government Area.

Senator Ladoja, who conceived the project, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made so far. He commended Governor Makinde for his commitment to completing the project, saying, “I am impressed with the quality of work done so far. I am confident that the project will be completed on schedule.”



The Ibadan Circular Road Project is expected to have significant economic benefits for the state. The project will enhance economic growth, improve the standard of living, and create employment opportunities for residents. The project will also boost industrialization in the state, making it an attractive destination for investors.
