Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid on Sunday, several countries have rescheduled their festivities to Monday, March 31, due to the lack of moon sightings in those regions

The Saudi Arabian government proclaimed Sunday, March 30, as Eid al-Fitr after the Shawwal crescent moon was sighted on Saturday night. Millions of Muslims throughout the world fasted during the holy month of Ramadan, and now it has come to an end.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) verified the observation of the new moon, after an earlier request by the Saudi Supreme Court for Muslims around the nation to do the same. This news will allow believers in Mecca and Medina to start making plans for the joyous prayers and festivities that will mark the start of Shawwal 1446 AH.

Although Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid on Sunday, several countries have rescheduled their festivities to Monday, March 31, due to the lack of moon sightings in those regions. These countries include Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, and Australia.

As reports of moon sightings come in from various nations, Muslim communities around the world are getting ready to celebrate in line with their own beliefs.
