The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital.

The British monarch, King Charles, was hospitalized for a short while on Thursday due to complications from his cancer treatment; Buckingham Palace described the incident as a “minor bump in the road.”

The 76-year-old monarch has been under therapy since February of last year, when tests conducted following an operation to address an enlarged prostate revealed an unidentified type of cancer.

His events scheduled for Friday would be postponed, according to the palace, which stated that he had returned to his residence, Clarence House, as a precautionary measure.

“Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital.

“His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed. His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s diary programme will also be rescheduled. His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”

However, the palace did not provide any information regarding the side effects. On the other hand, a source close to the royal family stated that the setback that occurred on Thursday was nothing more than the “most minor bump in the road that’s very much heading in the right direction” and that such a situation was not unusual with regard to medical procedures.
