
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has awarded the Egyptian Football Association (ETA) and the Egyptian Government(Egypt) the rights to host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2025.
This decision was made after Cote d’Ivoire, the original host designate, pulled out of the process due to unforeseen circumstances.
“This is subsequent to CAF having been informed by the Fédération Ivoirienne de Football (FIF) and the Government of Côte d’Ivoire that due to unforeseen circumstances, they are unable to host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2025,” CAF stated on its website.
“The Egyptian Football Association and the Egyptian Government had previously submitted a bid to host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2025,” CAF added.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from April 27 to May 18, 2025. The opening match will be played on Sunday, April 27, 2025, and the final will be played on May 18, 2025.
The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have already qualified for the tournament, and they will be looking to make a strong impression in Egypt.
CAF’s decision to strip Cote d’Ivoire of the hosting rights and award them to Egypt is a significant development, and it is expected to have a major impact on the tournament.
