The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has revealed that Kogi Central Political Frontier, the group seeking the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, is not registered as a legally recognized entity.

This development raises questions about the legitimacy of the recall process.

According to the CAC Registrar General, Mainunat Hamu Modi, the commission does not register political bodies or pressure groups. A letter from the CAC confirmed that Kogi Central Political Frontier is not available on record as a registered entity.

Despite this, the group submitted a petition to the INEC Chairman on March 25, 2025, calling for Akpoti-Uduaghan’s recall. The petition criticized the senator for allegedly failing to engage with her constituents.

The INEC initially rejected the petition due to the absence of verifiable contact information. However, after the petitioners provided the required details, the INEC officially accepted the petition.

Senator Natasha has expressed surprise at the development, stating that she had not received notification of the petition from the INEC. She questioned the legitimacy of the recall process, saying, “I haven’t been served. Guess publishing it on their social media handles suffices? I will ask my lawyers. It’s all crazy.”

The recall process has sparked controversy, with many Nigerians questioning how an unregistered group can petition for the recall of a sitting senator.
