Communal Clash: Gov Inspects Conflict Regions (Video)

I have ordered the distribution of food and relief materials which will be delivered to the palaces of the three monarchs for onward distribution to the victims.

Commual clash – Osun state’s governor, Ademola Adeleke, visited Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun conflict regions on Monday, March 20.

The visit comes after a long-running land dispute between the Ifon and Ilobu villages in Osun State erupted again, thirty people were injuried and three people died, including that of a former councillor by the name of Azeez as a result of the conflict.

A daily curfew enforced by Governor Adeleke runs from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Everyone in the curfew zones is asked to remain indoors and all forms of movement are restricted . Additionally, in order to enforce the curfew and keep peace and order, the governor sent security troops to the region.

During his speech in the conflict zones, Adeleke expressed his contentment with the degree of cooperation with the curfew that was enforced for a period of twenty-four hours in order to restore law and order. He also expressed his satisfaction with the presence of security officers who are trying to restore enduring peace and protect lives and property.

Additionally, he issued an order for the distribution of resources, including food and relief supplies, which would be sent to the palaces of the three monarchs so that they can be distributed to the victims.

The Governor issued a statement upon the completion of the inspection. It reads, “Today, I conducted an on-site assessment of the situation in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun communities, following the recurring communal clashes.

“I am satisfied with the level of compliance with the 24-hour curfew imposed to restore law and order, as well as the presence of security officials working to ensure lasting peace and protect lives and property.

“To support affected residents, I have ordered the distribution of food and relief materials which will be delivered to the palaces of the three monarchs for onward distribution to the victims.

“Additionally, I have directed the Commissioner of Police and the Director of State Security Service to invite the traditional rulers, chiefs, and identified ring leaders from each community for questioning and the signing of peace undertakings. I also urged security agencies to arrest and prosecute all perpetrators of violence.”
