Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant believes Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen would be a game-changer for Chelsea if they can lure him to Stamford Bridge. Osimhen has been consistently linked with a transfer to Chelsea, and Pennant thinks he would bring incredible numbers and possibly lead the team to silverware.
“He knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. His numbers are flying in, his numbers are great,” Pennant told Talk Sports. “I think someone like Osimhen, who is prolific in front of goal, would boost Chelsea or boost any team.”
Osimhen has been in great shape while on loan at Galatasaray, scoring 20 goals and providing four assists in 20 Super Lig games. He also has 26 goals and five assists in 30 games across all competitions. The striker is currently on international duty with Nigeria, scoring a brace in their 2-0 win over Rwanda to boost their hopes of reaching the 2026 World Cup.
Chelsea, who saw their offer turned down by Osimhen last summer, are said to be interested in making a new offer. Juventus are also reportedly preparing to offer a player-plus-cash deal to sign the Nigeria international from Napoli in the summer. Manchester United are also said to be interested in signing Osimhen.
Pennant believes Osimhen’s prolific goal-scoring ability would make him an ideal signing for Chelsea. “You’re scratching your head, thinking about how have Chelsea come away with a draw or a loss. I think someone like Osimhen would change things for Chelsea without a shout of a doubt.”
