The Nigeria Aquatics Federation successfully wrapped up its Level 1 Swimming Coaches Certification Course, held from March 12th to 15th, 2025, at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
The four-day event saw 43 enthusiastic coaches from across the country participate in intensive training sessions, mastering new techniques and equipment.

Federation President Chinonye Daphey Aliyu expressed her satisfaction with the program’s outcome, stating that it would elevate coaching standards and nurture grassroots talent nationwide. “The participants have gained essential knowledge in modern coaching techniques, water safety, stroke mechanics, and training methodologies,” Aliyu said during the event.
The federation extended its appreciation to partners, particularly the National Sports Commission, for their vital support in bringing the program to fruition. Officials hinted that this initiative marks the beginning of more developmental efforts to come.

The course was led by expert facilitators and trainers, including Dr. Odewumi, Mr. Jimi Adebanyo, and Mr. Adeyemi Adeyinka.
Notable attendees included Mr. Nseobong Jesemiel, Chairman of the Technical Department, Mr. Jonathan Chuka Ifeama, representing the South East, and Mr. Taiwo Oriss, General Secretary of the Nigeria Aquatics Federation.
