Fatima Adamu, a 17-year-old mother, was taken into custody by the Borno State Police Command on suspicion of infanticide following the discovery of the body of her newborn baby.
It was reported that Fatima, who was from Gamari Village in the Niger Republic, gave birth to a healthy male baby on March 21, 2025, at approximately 8:00 in the morning.
However, not long after hearing the baby cry, a witness named Fanna Modu from Chinguluski Village realized that the infant was no longer alive and felt that there was some kind of foul play involved.
According to a source within the police department, detectives went to the location, and an initial inspection of the baby’s body found that there were no obvious evidence of violence.
