The suspended Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara has made his first public appearance today, Sunday, marking a significant return to the spotlight after his recent ‘shameful’ suspension from office. His suspension through a state of emergency declaration by President Tinubu is practically as being disrobed of executive powers.

Governor Fubara was seen attending a service at Salvation Ministry in Port Harcourt, his usual place of worship, which effectively quelled various rumors surrounding his whereabouts during this period of his suspension.

The humbled Fubara, arrived at the church with a modest convoy, conspicuously absent of the official flag or seal that typically accompany the governor’s motorcade.

The usual paraphernalia of office was also noticeably missing.

His modest appearance possibly signals his acknowledgment of the current reality before him and a desire to connect with his maker and constituents on a more personal level.

Fubara’s appearance at the church service, a venue beloved by many in the community, suggests his intention to remain engaged with the public and maintain a sense of normalcy despite the turbulence of recent events.

It is however unknown if Governor Fubara is remorseful, full of regrets for his actions and inactions that culminated into his suspension and declaration of state of emergency.

Although the PDP Governors, NBA, opposition parties and many other notable Nigerians have condemned President Tinubu’s declaration of state of emergency in Rivers with threats of litigation and solid solidarity with Fubara.

It is unknown if Governor Fubara would institute legal actions against his suspension or resort to faith in God’s House.

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency Tuesday in the oil-rich region of Rivers State following a prolonged political crisis and governance paralysis.

Tinubu said during a nationwide broadcast that he suspended Gov. Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and all elected members from the state who are in the House of Assembly for six months.

The president has nominated retired Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas as administrator to take charge of the state’s affairs during the six-month period.

Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas was thereafter sworn in at the state house by President Tinubu .

Both chambers of National assembly have also ratified the state of emergency in line with constitutional requirement through controversial voice vote
