Assailants stabbed Usman Mohammad, a 23-year-old victim, with a sharp knife

Twelve individuals have been taken into custody by the Kaduna State Police Command for their involvement in the attack on worshippers who were doing the Tahajjud prayer in Rigasa.

During the attack, they killed a man named Usman Mohammed, who is 23 years old. This information was given in a statement that was issued on Friday, March 21, 2025, by DSP Mansir Hassan, who serves as the spokesperson for the command.

Hassan added that after receiving the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led a team of police to the area, and were accompanied by the Commander of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). The goal of the team was to apprehend the individuals who were responsible for the crime.

According to the Public Prosecution Officer (PPRO), the police quickly captured twelve suspects who admitted to having participated in the attack. Additionally, the police collected many weapons from the suspects.

The statement reads, “Police operatives in Kaduna State on 21st March 2025, at about 0200 hours, received a distress call from a concerned citizen, reporting that a large group of armed hoodlums had mobilized from Malalin Gabas, Tudun Wada, Rafin Guza, and Unguwar Baduko areas to attack worshippers performing Tahajjud prayer at Layin Bilya, Makwa Road, Rigasa Kaduna.

“Before their arrival, the assailants had already stabbed Usman Mohammad, a 23-year-old victim, with a sharp knife. Despite being rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries hours later and was confirmed dead by the attending doctor.

“The Kaduna State Police Command has significantly increased security deployments across strategic areas, particularly around mosques where such prayers are conducted.”

The PPRO also noted that a comprehensive investigation has been initiated to unearth the complete details of the crime and guarantee that justice is implemented.
