Any attempt to exploit the situation through unlawful gatherings, protests, or activities to disrupt public peace will be met with the full force of the law.
Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police, has issued an order that calls for the immediate deployment of more troops and resources to the state of Rivers.
The decision is meant to strengthen security, defend lives and property, and secure key infrastructure in the state, according to a statement that was published on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
According to the announcement, the operatives that have been dispatched will work along with the Armed Forces and other security services in order to prevent any kind of breakdown in law and order in the South-South state.
The statement read, “The Nigeria Police Force emphasises that aggrieved individuals retain the right to seek legal redress through the appropriate judicial channels.
“Consequently, any attempt to exploit the situation through unlawful gatherings, protests, or activities to disrupt public peace will be met with the full force of the law.
“Citizens are urged to remain law-abiding, comply with all legal directives, and continue their daily activities without fear.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining peace and security. Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities that may compromise public safety.
“Individuals or groups with criminal intent are hereby warned to stay away from Rivers State. Security forces are fully prepared to take decisive action against any threats to the peace and stability of the state.”
IREPORT247NEW had earlier report that the Federal Government of President Bola Tinubu has deployed 10,000 Troops of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps personnel to curb further attacks on oil pipelines against the backdrop of the blasts at oil installations in Rivers State.
The NSCDC spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, confirmed the deployment of anti-vandal operatives.
He stated that the operatives were tasked with protecting critical infrastructure and preventing pipeline vandalism, particularly in the Niger Delta.
“The NSCDC hereby warns against destruction and vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure across the Niger Delta as over 10,000 operatives have been deployed to collaborate with other security agencies to provide adequate peace and security of lives and property,” Babawale said.
