A ghastly motor accident has occurred at the Karu bridge between Kugbo and Nyanya in the FCT. The accident, which occurred at about 7.14 this evening, involved a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) truck and other vehicles.

A fuel-laden tanker exploded on Wednesday night in the vicinity of the Karu bridge, causing widespread chaos in Abuja and leading to the worry that a large number of people had been killed.

Around the Karu bridge, which is located on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway between Kugbo and Nyanya, witnesses stated that the truck lost control. The incident resulted in the entrapment of some vehicles, and the people inside were unable to flee the collision.

The explosion took place on Wednesday evening at 7:14 p.m., according to the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department, which confirmed the occurrence.

Nkechi Isa, the Head of Public Affairs for the Federal Emergency Management Department (FEMD), and Mark Nyam, the Head of Forecasting Response and Mitigation, issued a statement in which they indicated that the accident occurred when the driver of the CNG truck lost control of the vehicle and collided with other cars, which ultimately resulted in the explosion.

It reads, “A ghastly motor accident has occurred at the Karu bridge between Kugbo and Nyanya in the FCT. The accident, which occurred at about 7.14 this evening, involved a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) truck and other vehicles.

“According to the Head of Forecasting Response and Mitigation division of FEMA, Mr Mark Nyam, the accident occurred when the driver of the CNG truck lost control on the bridge there by running into other motorists and leading to an explosion.”
