Wikki Tourists FC is poised for a triumphant return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season, according to club Chairman Engr. Auwal Gotal. The announcement came during an engaging session with the Bauchi State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Monday, March 17, 2025.
Gotal shared an optimistic update on the team’s performance in the ongoing 2025 Nigeria National League (NNL), where Wikki Tourists have dominated the Northern Conference C standings. With six matches under their belt, the team has clinched four victories, settled for one draw, and suffered a single loss, amassing 13 points to lead the table.
The chairman also shed light on recent roster adjustments, noting that the club has bolstered its lineup with fresh talent. The new signings replace Damala, who recently transferred to Katsina United, and two other players currently representing the U-20 national team.Addressing concerns about team morale, Gotal emphasized that player and staff welfare remains a cornerstone of the club’s operations. He confirmed that all outstanding match bonuses have been cleared, and salaries are being disbursed on schedule.
In a bid to elevate the club’s profile, Gotal revealed ongoing negotiations with two companies for a sponsorship deal that promises to outfit Wikki Tourists in style. He expressed confidence that the partnership would be finalized soon.
The chairman reserved special praise for Governor Bala Muhammed, crediting his steadfast support for the team’s strong showing in the league. Gotal urged fans and stakeholders to rally behind the squad with their continued encouragement, prayers, and patience as Wikki Tourists charge toward their ultimate goal: a return to the NPFL.
