Kano Pay Parade System – On Monday, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State announced that the state government is currently working on implementing a pay parade system across the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to guarantee transparency and ascertain the number of civil officials and the amount of money they earn.
The Governor made this information public as he was receiving findings from a committee that had been commissioned to investigate inconsistencies in the manner in which civil personnel in Kano State were paid their salaries. The committee was led by Alhaji Umar Faruq, who is the Secretary to the Kano State government.
Sanusi Bature, the spokesperson for the governor, issued a statement in which Governor Yusuf made a commitment to put an end to the practice of improper salary deductions that are implemented against civil officials in the state.
The governor underlined the commitment of his government to protecting the rights of workers, in addition to highlighting the fact that timely and comprehensive salary payments continue to be a number one priority.
The governor expressed his gratitude to the investigation team for the comprehensive job that they had done and assented to carefully reviewing and putting their suggestions into action.
The governor assured those employed that he would modify any policies found to be detrimental to their welfare accordingly.
In addition, he voiced his worries with the disparities in compensation payments that were brought about by consulting firms that were hired by the administration that came before him, and he pledged to remedy the problem in order to achieve greater efficiency.
“I assured civil servants during my campaign that illegal deductions and underpayments would not be tolerated. It is disheartening that these issues persist, but we are taking decisive steps to address them.
“We will establish a high-powered committee to oversee the implementation of the pay parade system and ensure transparency in salary payments.
“Additionally, deductions linked to the National Housing Fund and other schemes will be thoroughly examined.”
