In a fiery address following Shooting Stars Sports Club’s (3SC) disappointing 0-2 defeat to Akwa United in Uyo on Sunday, General Manager Dimeji Lawal lambasted the club’s players for their recent lackluster performances and demanded a swift turnaround. The visibly frustrated ex-international minced no words as he confronted the team, insisting that their current form was unacceptable and urging them to approach their duties with unwavering seriousness and dedication.

Lawal expressed dismay at the squad’s inability to overcome a side like Akwa United, stating, “Guys, we need to tell ourselves the truth; this is not the kind of team that should be defeating us, but we just fell into their hands.” He pointed to a lack of effort from certain players, accusing them of failing to justify the hard work put in by the Technical Adviser, coaching staff, and management. “We have raised the hope of our people, and when they are already believing in us, we are letting them down,” he lamented.

The General Manager’s ire was palpable as he warned that the club’s leadership would not stand idly by while their aspirations crumbled due to a lack of commitment from some squad members. He put the players on notice, threatening decisive action if results did not improve immediately, saying, “At this point, we will be forced to take drastic decisions if the team fails to get back to winning ways, and I’m charging you all to make this happen from the next game.”

Lawal’s stern rebuke comes at a critical juncture for 3SC, with the former international emphasizing his constant presence at training sessions and his disappointment at the team’s failure to translate the coaches’ efforts onto the pitch.
