The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that Ghana will host the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship, scheduled for April 21-26.

The continental finals will take place at the University of Ghana’s Legon Sports Stadium in Accra, marking the first time the event will be held in West Africa.

Previous tournaments were staged in South Africa (2023) and Tanzania (2024) and since its launch in April 2022 by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe in Maputo, Mozambique, the championship has become Africa’s most successful youth sports initiative where over 1.965 million boys and girls from 46 countries have participated in the program to date.

The event is supported by a $10 million donation from the Motsepe Foundation, enabling CAF to fund legacy projects such as school renovations, library construction, and community infrastructure development. Prize money is substantial, with the winner receiving $300,000, the runner-up $200,000, and the second runner-up $150,000.

Teams qualifying from the six CAF zones, along with the boys’ and girls’ champions from the 2023/24 finals, will join host nation Ghana to compete in the 2025 continental finals.
